Interview with Ewa Dulcet and Martyna Świerczyńska

Wrist pain is often the result of long-lasting muscle contraction caused by working at the computer. The forced and invariable position of the hand does not allow loosening the muscles and ligaments of the wrist. When the wrist returns to the intermediate position, there is pain and a feeling of pressure. One of the solutions to prevent pain is the introduction of an unstable base during hand operation. MIKO + jewelry has been designed so that the user slightly changed the position of the wrist while working with the mouse and led to alternate muscle work. Patients suffering from the wrist canal syndrome relieve the pressure of a specific place on the hand. Physiotherapists often use elements of acupressure in the therapy of this disease. Designed form of jewelry allows you to perform autotherapy of excessively strained structures within the hand. About further plans for MIKO +, presented in the make me! 2017 contest, we are talking with designers Ewa Dulcet and Martyna Świerczyńska:

1. How is the process of designing MIKO+, presented during make me! 2017 contest, at this moment?
In recent time we made inntensive research of jewelry in the Department of Surgery, Orthopedics and Traumatology of the Hand of the Medical University of Karol Marcinkowski conducted under the supervision of doc Marta Jokiel. We are just after getting results from these tests, of which we are very satisfied. Now we are planning to work on all the conclusions and start implementing them, which is associated with refining the already known forms of jewelry, so that they work without any problems.

2. Has your participation in the final of the make me! contest and exhibition has been helpful in developing a jewelry design?
Finding ourseflves among the make me! finalists was a great distinction for us considering the high level of the competition and its international prestige. This opportunity has helped us in building the recognition of MIKO+ and applying for other scholarships for our further development, documenting our participation in the final make me! 2017.

3. What are the plans for MIKO+?
Quite recently, our jewelry has been tested in the Department of Surgery, Orthopedics and Traumatology of the Hand of the Medical University Karol Marcinkowski. Our next plan is to work on all the conclusions and refine what needs to be improved. Before we introduce the jewelry to the market, we will be absolutely sure that MIKO + works and is a therapeutic jewelry. The next part of the plan is just to confront MIKO + with the market :) We want to introduce jewelry for sale.

4. How is the MIKO+ project perceived on the foreign market?
MIKO + has not been introduced to the market yet - hence it is difficult to say how it will be perceived on the foreign market. During the Global Grad Show at Dubai Design Week, we were repeatedly asked where our jewelry could be bought: maybe it's a good sign :)

5. Has the physiotherapeutic jewelry been already put on the market?
This stage is still ahead.

6. Are you working on a new project now? If you can reveal the details, it would be great.
We have now been working on several projects that are slowly coming to the end and it is time to finish our other projects on a smaller scale, such as perfecting MIKO+.
