Do you design, organize exhibitions, or maybe run workshops? If you operate in the creative industry, and you want to appear at the Łódź Design Festival, that's great! It is for you that we have compiled the following information.
Throughout the year, we are actively recruiting for the ŁDF program, primarily as part of our projects - the make me! competition, 'must have' plebiscite and the open programme. Below we present the most important information on this topic.
make me! - a design contest for young designers
The international make me! competition is one of the most influential and innovative events in the field of product design in Europe and a key event of the Łódź Design Festival. The key purpose of the contest is to identify new trends, brave ideas and support those young people(25-30 years old) who are ready to compete and come up with interesting ideas. The finalists of previous editions emphasize the new opportunities opened to them: presence at additional exhibitions and mentions in publications. Consequently, they get better recognition and an easier start in the design community. The competition, which has been carried out since 2008, is addressed to designers, makers, students and graduates, especially from art and design disciplines. To all those that are impulsively triggered to design when noticing a need or problem. In make me! projects that experiment with material or seek new interpretations of existing functions are also awarded. Submitted works are evaluated in two stages by a specially-selected jury with diversified interests. Thanks to the presentation of projects at the exhibition open to the public and contacts with experts, make me! can be a springboard for further professional development.
Information about the prizes, the Jury, awarded so far, the application form and others can be found on the competition website: www.makeme.lodzdesign.com.
'must have' - a plebiscite for designers and producers
'must have' plebiscite has been organized by Łódź Design Festival since 2011 to honor the best innovations by Polish designers and manufactures. It is a free-of-charge quality mark that can be used by Polish companies in Poland and abroad. It was established to raise awareness of quality Polish design and to promote the best businesses and designers at the top of the Polish design field. 'must have' is a unique consumer endorsement and the most popular media event in the Polish creative sector. 'must have' is the leading independent quality mark awarded to superior Polish products each year. Its goal is to support the creative sector through comprehensive promotion of products based on cooperation between leading manufacturers and designers. Applications for the plebiscite can be submitted free of charge via the form available at www.musthave.lodzdesign.com. Nominations based on a market review are also made by the Board of Experts, whose main task is to carry out the final evaluation of all submissions.
Information on the rules of recruitment, the Board of Experts, the distinguished list, application form and others can be found on the plebiscite's website: www.musthave.lodzdesign.com.
