The OFFICE OF THE FUTURE exhibit presents futuristic concepts of office interiors of the future. The projects presented during the exhibit are an effect of work of students of the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk and the Department of Architecture of the Technical University of Gdańsk. The visions of the future displayed in the projects are a response to the needs and problems that we will have to face in the upcoming decades.
Students faced a task consisting of designing interiors of offices of the future, where people will have to work in approximately 2050. The works were developed on the basis of change factors that were prepared by the infuture hatalska foresight institute. OFFICE OF THE FUTURE presents 12 select concepts of interiors of offices of the future – each is an exceptional solution to problems that we are starting to face already today.
The broadness of problems that the young designers faced, covered such issues as: problems with social relationships, nomadism, aging society or lack of contact with nature. A total of 40 visions were created.
The exhibit is a futuristic form corresponding to the poplar megalithic structure, namely Stonehenge, being one of the oldest places of cult in the world. During a time of constant online presence and loss of boundaries between the private live and work, Joanna Jurga, the curator and designer of the exhibit, proposed to create Futurehenge. This is a vision of a workplace in the form of a round space. The radiant exposition panels and plants that hang from the ceiling is a place for displaying student projects. The laboratory space is an architectural metaphor for a time machine, which will let visitors be transferred to the offices of the future for a moment.
Based on the trends developed by the infuture institute: technological, social, economic, communicational and environmental, students accepted the challenge of designing offices of the future, such as floating work stations. The infuture institute and SKANSKA have organised a contest for speculative design work. Its assumption was for every project to be substantively embedded in reality, while the visionary concept to have scientific grounds. The final part is composed of a display of the OFFICE OF THE FUTURE contest works, where you can find a project entitled We Will Bee Workers!, which makes it possible to place workers in cabins, where they connect with virtual spaces, or Meanders, which is a solution that is an architectural and visual form, responding to the psychical needs of humans.
The OFFICE OF THE FUTURE exhibit is a result of multi-discipline cooperation of scientific and research centres with business: infuture hatalska foresight institute, SKANSKA, Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk and the Technical University of Gdańsk.
