General information about Łódź Design Festival

Łódź Design Festival (LDF) is an idea, people, action. The festival was created in 2007, adopting at its beginning a formula for reviewing the achievements of Polish design. Thanks to the dialogue with recipients from the very beginning, the festival program was enriched with new elements until it reached the current shape, which includes: make me! - competition for young designers; 'must have' plebiscite - selection of the best Polish implementations; Educreation - an educational zone for children.

ŁDF is currently the most important design-related event in Central and Eastern Europe. It presents design in its various guises - from industrial design, through art and craft design, graphic design, architecture, service design, to fashion. It brings together people who, thanks to an open mind and commitment, take up various challenges, who have the courage to design and change the environment for the better.

During the previous editions, the Festival was visited by over 590.000 people from all over the world (data for the period 2007-2021).

General information about make me! competition

The international make me! competition is one of the most influential and innovative events in the field of product design in Europe and a key event of the Łódź Design Festival. The key purpose of the contest is to identify new trends, brave ideas and support those young people(25-30 years old) who are ready to compete and come up with interesting ideas. The finalists of previous editions emphasize the new opportunities opened to them: presence at additional exhibitions and mentions in publications. Consequently, they get better recognition and an easier start in the design community. The competition, which has been carried out since 2008, is addressed to designers, makers, students and graduates, especially from art and design disciplines. To all those that are impulsively triggered to design when noticing a need or problem. In make me! projects that experiment with material or seek new interpretations of existing functions are also awarded. Submitted works are evaluated in two stages by a specially-selected jury with diversified interests. Thanks to the presentation of projects at the exhibition open to the public and contacts with experts, make me! can be a springboard for further professional development.

Open Call for next edition of make me: deadline March, 28th 2022. The winners will be announced during the next edition of the festival, which will start in May 2022. Make me! Prize Pool Design Awards 2022 is as much as PLN 60.000!

Information about the prizes, the Jury, awarded so far, the application form and others can be found on the competition website: www.makeme.lodzdesign.com.
